2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

Following the previous year's interior and suspension upgrades, Mitsubishi Montero
Sport 2001 is improved with its re-engineered body and more fuel-efficient engines.
For this year, Mitsubishi is more concerned with the users' safety as well as
the engine's lower emissions and fuel economy. Enhancements on the vehicle structure
were aimed to deflect force of an offset-front-end crash. Also added is a new
seat-belt that helps protect the driver from injury. But getting the biggest attention
for this year is the new 3.5XS model, which boasts Mitsubishi's biggest engine.
It also sports a distinctive exterior appearance while maintaining the lean and
muscular lines Mitsubishi Montero Sport is known for.
This SUV stands on a 107.3-inch wheelbase and holds a 93.6 cubic feet passenger
volume. There are five trim levels available for this year model, the Mitsubishi
Montero ES, LS, XLS, Limited, and the new 3.5XS model. The ES model was offered
last year only with a two-wheel drive while this for this year, a four-wheel drive
option is available. The rest of the level trims also come with two-wheel or four-wheel
drive options.
The Montero ES, LS and XLS versions are all mounted with a 3.0 L V6 165-hp engine
while the Limited version is powered by Mitsubishi's top engine, the 3.5 L V6
197-hp engine. The new 3.5Xs holds the big engine as well. It is slightly advanced
than the LS trim in terms of its facilities and equipments. The LS features privacy
glass, adjustable front seat, 60/40 split rear seat, larger alloy wheels and four-wheel-disc
brakes on the four-wheel drive version. The 3.5XS has a unique matte-black exterior
trim and comes in Solano Black or Phoenix Red.
