Mitsubishi has been known for producing inexpensive, simple-looking yet high-performance
vehicles. With the advent of the
Montero Sport, which is smaller and lighter than the earlier full-size Mitsubishi Montero,
Mitsubishi veered from its tradition. Montero Sport is more refined and comfortable
and its performance is just as gutsy as its looks. It offers good handling and
agility especially in tight turns and rough pavements. It's truly a dependable
and heavy duty vehicle. When you're all set for adventure, this sport utility
vehicle is certainly ready to go with you. From its muscular looks down to its
well-equipped interior and tough powertrain, it's sure to give you an excellent
drive.
Montero Sport comes in four level trims: ES, LS, XLS and Limited, with two or
four-wheel drive options. In 2002, it comes equipped with full time four-wheel-drive
mode, which is designed to increase traction control especially in slippery and
rough roads or irregular pavements; thus, ensure your safety. Built on a truck
chassis, expect a truck-like ride, with no rattles, squeaks and leaps. Antilock
brakes are standard on all four-wheel drive Montero Sport. These provide excellent
traction especially in inclined roads. Powering these vehicles are 3.0 L V6 165-hp
engine (ES, LS, XLS) and 3.5 L 197-hp V6 engine (Limited).
All Montero Sport models are well-equipped with performance, safety and luxury
parts, even the base trim. The LS features rear privacy glass, more adjustments
on the front seat, 60/40 split rear seat and larger alloy wheels. The XLS come
with color-keyed fender flares, style-enhancing parts and security system. The
top-level trim, Limited is loaded with four-wheel-disc brakes and ABS, limited-slip
rear differential, Infinity stereo, power moonroof and LCD trip computer. It also
features leather upholstery, heated front seats and separate rear heater controls.
